asset system detail (Asset System)
Assets are durable relationships or operational resources your
character can use through the Influence layer. They are not abstract
ratings. They are contacts, groups, social networks, status, occult
resources, or technical access that make particular kinds of action
plausible.
Asset types:
Contact
One specific person.
Contact Group
A small known group of people.
Social Network
A broad, diffuse web of social access.
Status
Personal standing, recognized pull, rank, or useful access.
Formal organization membership belongs to a later organization
system.
Arcana
Magical resources, ritual materials, occult objects, captive
spirits, or supernatural operational resources.
Technet
Digital/technical resources, backchannels, compromised systems,
tools, credentials, or technical collaborators.
Areas:
Assets have Primary Areas and Secondary Areas instead of numeric
ratings. A Primary Area is where the asset is strongest. A
Secondary Area is useful but less central.
Areas are: Police, Criminal, Media, Bureaucracy, Academic,
Occult, Magic, Digital, Political, Nightlife, Medical, Labor,
Legal, Religious, Business, Street, High Society, and Violence.
Caps and creation:
Normal characters can have up to their first three active core
assets. These initial assets can be created over time and are
free. Each initial asset starts with 1 Primary Area and 2
Secondary Areas.
After those initial entitlements are used, new developed assets
cost 10 DT and start with 0 Primary Areas and 1 Secondary Area.
Staff may grant cap-exempt assets for story rewards or special
cases.
Costs:
Developed asset after initial entitlements: 10 DT.
Improve an area from none to Secondary: 10 DT.
Improve an area from Secondary to Primary: 10 DT.
Convert Contact/Contact Group: 5 DT.
Merge unshared Contact/Contact Group assets: 5 DT.
Recover one condition step: 5 DT.
Demote or remove an area: free.
Asset costs spend eligible DT first. If DT is short or the weekly
non-challenge DT cap blocks the spend, IP covers the shortfall at
2 IP = 1 DT.
Each asset can have only one development or recovery action per
week. Free demotions/removals are logged but do not consume that
weekly lock.
Visibility and condition:
Visibility may be Public, Basic Info - Mundane, Basic Info -
Supernatural, or Restricted.
Public
Obvious affiliations, public roles, or openly visible
connections.
Basic Info - Mundane
Open-source research, public records, common reputation, or
basic social context can find your connection to this asset.
Basic Info - Supernatural
Other assets are connected only to the supernatural world.
People who aren't Aware wouldn't be able to understand your
connection to this asset.
Restricted
Hidden mundane assets such as informants, backchannels, or
private relationships require privileged access, surveillance,
legwork, or relevant assets to find.
Condition may be Normal, Threatened, Suppressed, or Destroyed.
Suppressed assets are unusable until recovered. Destroyed assets
are not recoverable by the normal recovery command.
Sharing:
An owner can invite another character to share an asset. The
recipient must accept before it counts against their cap. Shared
assets count against each owner unless cap-exempt. Any owner can
edit the name or descriptions, pay development or recovery costs,
and leave the shared asset. Shared assets cannot be converted or
merged.
Player commands:

Deferred:
Player-facing hostile asset attacks, asset challenge

investigation commands are later systems. Assets V1 stores the
condition and history needed for those future hooks.
